2026 6th International Conference on Energy, Power and Electrical Engineering (EPEE 2026)
Concludes Successfully in Taiyuan!

The 6th International Conference on Energy, Power and Electrical Engineering (EPEE 2026) grandly opened in Taiyuan, Shanxi, on September 19, 2026. Jointly organized by Taiyuan University of Technology and the IEEE Power & Energy Society (IEEE PES), the conference was hosted by the College of Electrical and Power Engineering of Taiyuan University of Technology, the Shanxi Key Laboratory of Power System Operation and Control, and the Key Laboratory of Clean Intelligent Control of Coal-Fired Power Engineering, Ministry of Education. It also received strong support from the IEEE PES Taiyuan Chapter, Hangzhou Dianzi University, the Shanxi University Electrical Alliance, the Shanxi New Power System Industry-Education Integration Community, Shanxi University, North University of China, Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, and Shanxi Institute of Technology.

Centered on the theme "Smart Grid: Innovation, Green, Interconnection," the conference brought together more than 120 experts, scholars, engineers, and young researchers from universities, research institutes, and industry at home and abroad in Taiyuan to discuss the latest theories, technological breakthroughs, and application prospects in the fields of energy, power and electrical engineering.

Focusing on the frontiers of energy, power and electrical engineering, the conference featured 6 keynote presentations, 3 thematic parallel sessions, 2 young scholar presentation sessions and 1 poster session, providing multiple platforms for academic exchange. Topics covered AI-enabled future power systems, hydrogen power generation technologies in extreme environments, the application of large language models in carbon footprint accounting and policy simulation, large-model intelligent-agent workflows for power system operation and control, control of dual-motor drive systems, and multilayer flexible interconnected DC transformer technologies.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Yanbing Jia of Taiyuan University of Technology. Professor Zhihua Wang, Vice President of Taiyuan University of Technology, and Mr. Wenzhong Cheng, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Shanxi New Power System Industry-Education Integration Community, delivered opening remarks.

Vice President Zhihua Wang noted that Taiyuan University of Technology is a key university under China's "Project 211" and one of the first group of universities selected for the national "Double First-Class" initiative, and that energy and power have always been distinctive strengths and defining characteristics of the university. He pointed out that frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence and power electronics are being deeply integrated with power systems, driving the traditional grid to accelerate its evolution toward a more intelligent, green and resilient new power system, and that holding this conference in Shanxi, a national pilot zone for comprehensive energy revolution reform, is both timely and highly significant.

Mr. Wenzhong Cheng, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General, stated that the community adheres to the principle of promoting industry through education and supporting education through industry, and works to deepen the integration of the education chain, talent chain, industrial chain and innovation chain. He emphasized that "the energy revolution is by no means a solo performance, but a chorus of industry-education integration and collaborative education," and expressed his expectation for deeper and more pragmatic cooperation with all parties in talent cultivation, technical services and achievement transformation.

During the keynote session, Professor Zhaoyang Dong of City University of Hong Kong, Professor Yinke Dou of Taiyuan University of Technology, Professor Fushuan Wen of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Professor Yu Wang of Chongqing University, Associate Professor Xiong Liu of Jinan University, and Associate Professor Qianhao Sun of Beijing Jiaotong University were invited to deliver keynote presentations, sharing insightful perspectives and engaging in in-depth discussions on frontier topics.

Keynote Speeches

The thematic parallel sessions focused on "Talent Development in the Energy Sector in the AI Era," "Resilience Enhancement Technology for New Power Systems Under Extreme Events," and "Motor Drive Systems and Intelligent Control." Sixteen experts from Dalian University of Technology, Tsinghua University, Higher Education Press, Shanxi University, Taiyuan University of Technology, Beijing Xiangxinli Technology Co., Ltd., Chaoxing Group, Shanghai Able Digital & Tech Co., Ltd., Wuhan University of Technology, Nanjing Normal University, North China Electric Power University, Nanjing Tech University, Hefei University of Technology and Taiyuan University of Science and Technology delivered thematic presentations. The on-site discussions were lively and the academic atmosphere was vibrant.

The successful conclusion of EPEE 2026 not only showcased the latest achievements in the fields of energy, power and electrical engineering at home and abroad, but also built a platform for exchange that promotes the deep integration of academic research, industrial innovation and talent development. Against the backdrop of global energy transition and low-carbon development, EPEE will continue to serve as a bridge, helping advance continuous innovation and application promotion in the energy and power sectors, and supporting the development of a green, safe and efficient new power system.
